Two Pieces for Carillon
Work no. 21
These tiny pieces were inspired by my dreams of going to Finland, the same way Suomi Jukebox was. I was thinking of the trees mentioned in the titles (both being very common in Finland), and how the tops can be so thin, swaying in the wind. So the music mimicks that, albeit in a very basic way: both pieces begin with thicker textures and move on to just single notes at the end, music barely hanging together – in the wind, as it were.
