Maçka Park Canons

Part of an ongoing (as of April 2022) series of canons for percussionist Amy Salsgiver, these pieces were inspired by Istanbul's Maçka Park, which became something of a haven for me during my first weeks in the city. After making it out of Russia, I came to Istanbul to see it completely covered in snow, blizzards enveloping the city every day. I got to see Maçka Park change from a snowy winter forest to a lush green landscape full of life, but these pieces were composed before spring was in full bloom.
