Fugitive Canons |
Work no. 222 | |
Paused...
Part of an ongoing (as of April 2022) series of canons for percussionist Amy Salsgiver. My study of Turkish has progressed almost to the point where I needed to start reading books, so I bought some children's books, and a couple of poetry collections. One poem attracted my attention because I could discern the words "sea" and "moon", but when I translated it, it turned out to be about refugees – very apt, given that I became one just a couple of months before. I set the first stanza to music in the first canon. I think the feeling in the electric guitar solo in the second canon is similar, but requires no words. |
