| NEW Rondo |
2010 |
c. 3 mins |
score |
MP3 |
| For organ. A small three-part polyphonic rondo in which the upper parts frequently merge, cancel one another, etc. The pedal, used chiefly in the refrain, adds to the confusion. |

| Pieces for Recorder |
2009–10 |
1–3 mins each |
|
| A collection of pieces for recorder. It started when a friend of mine started playing recorder. There are simple melodic pieces here (Chaconnette), avant-garde indeterminate works (The Photograph), dances, wordless songs, and many other types of music. Most of the pieces are short, but intended for experienced performers. The scores specify a soprano (descant) recorder in C, but instruments of any range are acceptable. |

| Variations for Flute |
2009 |
c. 3 mins |
score |
MP3 |
| For flute or tenor recorder in C. This is a small set of variations on a simple ascending theme. I initially composed this as a simple exercise in linear variation, but grew to like it very much. |

| For piano. A short virtuosic Romantic showpiece, originally intended for the Amelia Whiteheart project where it would become an early work by Ms. Whiteheart; but eventually I decided against this. |

| Dodecaphonic Etude I |
2009 |
2 mins |
score |
MP3 |
| For piano. First part of a series of dodecaphonic piano works. Several statements of the prime form of the tone row summon its inversion, which dissolves the piece. The epigraph is from Virginia Woolf's "The Waves", but the actual wording is from Jean-Luc Godard's Dans le noir du temps. |

| Movement Variations |
2009 |
1.5 mins |
score |
MP3 |
| For piano. A tiny minimal composition based on breaking a bit of music into several segments moving up and down according to strict rules. |
| |
| Waves |
2008 |
c. 4 mins |
score |
MP3 |
| For piano. This piece uses a technique somewhat similar to some applications of Stockhausen's formula composition: a single melody (in this case, a wave and several variations) dictates how the entire piece unfolds. |

| Vanity |
2008 |
1.5 mins |
score |
MP3 |
| For piano. The twelve pitches of the octave enter one by one, in long note values, accompanied by fast ornaments that almost never venture further than the major 3rd from the pitch currently active. This process repeats once. |

| Five Canons for Two Drums |
2008 |
8–9 mins |
score |
|
| For two drums, preferably with different timbral characteristics. All of the canons are infinite; the performers are welcome to compose endings for them. Canon IV was inspired by some of Howard Skempton's percussion pieces. |

| Canon |
2008 |
1.5 mins |
score |
MP3 |
| For melodic Instrument and [two] drums. One of the drums must have a lower sound, so that the percussion part could imitate, as best as it can, the melodic part. |

| Variations |
2008 |
6 mins |
score |
|
| For piano. This is a set of variations without a theme. They're united by certain melodic and structural aspects, but no variation has precedence over any other. In a performance, any number of them can be played, and in any order. |
