I started making music at 14, with absolutely no experience whatsoever. Noone in my
family was ever interested in music, I never played any instruments and only listened to
records occasionally. My first pieces were composed in Scream Tracker III and were little
more than haphazard, unorganized sequences of random sounds.
My career in visual art started when I was 16; I began by drawing ascii art and slowly
progressed into photography and digital painting.
I strongly believe in immediacy in creation. The improvisations presented on the website
are all first takes, and in most cases there were no other takes. The photographs are all
first shots, and in most cases there were no other shots.
My influences include composers Johann Pachelbel, John Cage, Vangelis, and Aphex Twin,
artists Leonardo da Vinci, Francis Bacon, Pablo Picasso, Edward Hopper and David Lynch,
photographers Diane Arbus and Nan Goldin,
writers Franz Kafka, Iain Banks, James Joyce, Tove Jansson, and Robert Sheckley,
bands Saint Etienne, Stereolab, Alejandra & Aeron, Smoke City, and Garbage,
poets T.S. Eliot and Saigyo Hoshi,
miscellaneous works by David Lynch, Carlos Castaneda's first books, Chuang Tzu (Zhuangzi),
Chinese Song dynasty landscape painters, Finnish tracker musicians, Canadian ascii artists,
a multitude of folk traditions, and countless other people and things.
I am currently based in Moscow, Russia.
