News
29 Jan 2012:
A few more ASCII pieces (including a couple of logos – my first ASCII logos in about five years!) and a new notated piece for
percussion – Guarded Hearts. It involves primitive, but hopefully charming biology.
16 Oct 2011:
The tracker music section has been given an upgrade: more readable now, and with a few previously unavailable pieces thrown in.
I have also made a new version of the score of Waves, which is more readable now, although still quite difficult.
29 Sep 2011:
I've put up the scores of two satellite pieces for the toy piano piece from the previous update – these are Many Worlds and
Beaters. The latter is a particularly interesting piece, I think, and a true game in every sense of the word – with several gameplay
modes, even. I've also uploaded the score of the extended version of Dark Colors, and the score and a MIDI demo of two old
pieces for piano, Two Short Duos. Also, three new ASCII artworks were added to the gallery, all experimental remixes of works
by Robin Pearson. More updates soon, with new notated works, previously unreleased tracker music, and so on.
20 Jul 2011:
A new notated work, this time for toy piano and other toy instruments: Many Worlds Game – Spoon. This was made for the
4th UnCaged Toy Piano Competition. A satellite piece will be added soon, and one more game for toy instruments is in the works.
25 Jun 2011:
New works: Dark Colors for soprano with optional electronics and a satellite set of tiny songs, Birds of Prey. The former was
created for the Fifteen Minutes of Fame: Written for Beth Griffith competition and was originally a solo soprano work. The competition
version is the only one available at the moment. I have also uploaded a few new ascii artworks to the unreleased-new gallery.
27 Apr 2011:
New layout for the news, the notated music pages, and a few other parts of the website; biography somewhat expanded, etc. Coming
up are quite a few new notated pieces and ascii artworks, although so far it's been a very busy, unproductive year thanks to my new job.
Meanwhile, a couple of abstract asciis from last month were uploaded to the usual place.
10 Mar 2011:
I've made an ascii triptych, Three Views of a Pond, inspired by Monet, Klimt's landscapes, and an abstract ascii generator I recently
programmed, Rhea. The individual panels are in the gallery (look under "pond X"), as is the assembled
triptych (here), although the
latter
isn't well displayed by most monitors, unless you have extremely high resolution set up.
I've also completed another Knytt Stories level, Concealment. I think it's one of my best, certainly as good as Pestilence. Due
to unpleasant circumstances (busy period in life) I had to release it early, so I may make expanded versions of it someday.
9 Feb 2011:
Finally managed to compose two more pieces for recorder, and so the collection of 24 pieces (previously known as the collection of
22 pieces)
is now complete. You can check the PDF score of all pieces and the recordings at the ressurected recorder music page.
The two new pieces are at the bottom; both are extremely difficult, virtuosic works.
24 Jan 2011:
In terms of both music and visual art, it's been a horrible year for me, which should explain the lack of updates. Things have gotten
better lately, though. I've started drawing ascii again, and uploaded a batch of new works. I've also finished a
chaconne for lute,
fulfilling an old dream to compose for the instrument. There's also an auxiliary piece
for Summer Prelude, called Arpeggi, and one
new photograph, showing maine
coons from a cat show here in Moscow.
9 Apr 2010:
Made another Knytt Stories level, Middle of Nowhere, for a competition held at the Nifflas' Support Forum. It's a very hard and depressing
level, even somewhat unfair, but I've already had some good feedback about it, so apparently it's also enjoyable.
26 Mar 2010:
Two new notated works: a set of piano music on Finland, Suomi Jukebox, and an organ rondo. I'm particularly proud of the former,
although it would be difficult for me to explain my reasons.
16 Mar 2010:
Some of the recorder pieces will be performed this month in Berlin by students of Sylvia Hinz:
